Thanks to Align Probiotics for partnering together for this post! I was compensated for my time but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own. #AlignPartner
Anyone else been concerned about ways to keep your immune system strong lately?
I have been right there with you! As someone who regularly works with people on their health and wellness, I can say that immune health should always be a priority, but did you know that 70% of your immune system is actually found in your gut?
It’s important to keep in mind that many factors can work together to support our immune health. What I have also learned is that a healthy immune system requires regular upkeep. Just like we brush our teeth every day (we hope), you should also take daily steps to support your immunity. Today on the blog I’ll be sharing 3 things you can do to help support your immune health.
1. Decrease Stress
Stress causes an increase in the stress hormone Cortisol! I won’t get into too much detail here (that’s for another post) but know that too much cortisol can wreak havoc on our immune health. If you are busy, the idea of stress management may seem time-consuming but it does not have to be. Personally, I have found the most benefit from doing small simple things that I also enjoy doing such as writing in my journal for a few minutes, practicing yoga, or taking 2-3 minutes to practice deep breathing pauses.
2. Improve Sleep
In our “always on the go” society, sleep is an area often neglected. However, the link between sleep and the immune system is closely connected. Consistent sleep helps to strengthen the immune system allowing it to be effective. Improving my sleep hygiene has been a work in progress but I’m making small strides. Studies have shown that sleep loss can affect different parts of the immune system, which can increase the risk for other health issues.
3. Prioritize Gut Health
Like I mentioned above, 70% of your immune system is found in your gut – which many people don’t know! This is one of the reasons it’s important to also pay attention to our gut health. One way that we can focus on our gut health is with probiotics. This is why I was also excited to team up with Align Probiotics to share my experience using Align Gut Health and Immunity Support over 28 days.
I’d take it each day with water and my usual breakfast meal. Initially, changes are harder to notice, however by the third week I felt less bloating and overall, my gut was happy. It’s important to know that if you start to take the product for a few days and don’t note immediate results- trust the process. It takes time and not all probiotics will work the same for everyone. If you’d like to try the challenge too, check it out here and let me know how it goes!
These are just a few habits that I incorporate to support my overall wellness and immune health. What are some ways you keep your immune system strong?
